[27] But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. [28] And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. [29] And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. [30] But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. [31] And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

This whole scene seems so bizarre. If Peter wasn't sure that it was Jesus then how could he step confidently onto the water in the first place? And would you really get out of the boat and start walking across the water towards someone you didn't recognize? What if it was Satan wearing one of those Mission Impossible faces? Wouldnt you say, Jesus if it's really you have me walk on the water while I'm holding on to the edge of the boat. Wouldn't Jesus say look Peter don't be getting out of the boat walking towards someone when you're not sure who it is? Did the other disciples get a good laugh out of the whole thing?  that Peter what a bozo. Imagine Thomas saying, what was he thinking I'm not getting out of this boat.
